Gørtz Jacobsen has been writing her Global Studies senior thesis on Vietnamese Francophone Literature, which she will build on as part of the research Master's degree that she will be pursuing next year at Cambridge University. She has been awarded Newnham College's Anna Watkins Studentship, which is a studentship given to graduate students at Cambridge University.
Gørtz Jacobsen has also been granted membership to two honor societies: Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi.
During the summer of 2016, she took a summer course at the American University of Paris on the European Union on public policy. That same summer, she took a course at the University of Copenhagen dealing with the challenges facing Arctic governance.
She has also been a committee member of Oversight Committee on Athletic Academic Affairs (OCAAA) since the fall of 2016. The committee provides the Provost with oversight and advice on matters related to academic support for student-athletes through the following functions:
*Reviews and advises on programs, operations, and policies of the Student Athlete Academic Services (SAAS).
*Reviews and advises on policies and practices designed to assure academic integrity in all academic-related matters for student-athletes.
*Reviews the academic performance of student-athletes, including progress to degree and graduation rates.
*Serves as a review board for student-athlete appeals affecting athletic eligibility.
She is a two-time member of the Pac-12 All-Academic First Team (2016 and 2017 seasons). In 2017, she was selected as a CRCA National Scholar-Athlete.
Athletically, Gørtz Jacobsen was an integral member of the USC Varsity Eight thoughout the 2017-18 season. She has competed in every Varsity Eight race throughout the season. She helped USC place fifth as a team out of 21 crews at the Clemson Invitational on April 14. Specifically, she helped the Trojan Varsity Eight place second in the"A Final" at the Clemson Invitational, finishing just behind No. 4 Ohio State.
Most recently, the Trojans defeated UCLA in the annual USC-UCLA dual to extend their undefeated winning streak to 17-0. Earlier in the year, she helped the Varsity Eight to a third place finish in the Women's Collegiate Varsity Grand Final of the San Diego Crew Classic.
Gørtz Jacobsen was the team captain her junior season (USC did not name a team captain this year to focus on a "family mindset"), and was named to the 2017 Pac-12 All-Conference Team.
