USC junior Justin Suh, the 2018 Pac-12 Player of the Year who won the conference title among five wins this season en route to breaking the season school records for stroke average and rounds in the 60s, has been named a 2018 PING Division I All-American first team selection, the Golf Coaches Association of American announced today.
Â
Suh is the fifth Trojan to earn All-American first team notice under 12th-year head coach Chris Zambri, joining two-time recipient Jamie Lovemark (2007-08), Rory Hie (2008), Matt Giles (2009) and Rico Hoey (2016).
Â
Suh was an All-American third team pick as a 2017 sophomore after earning All-American honorable mention honors as a 2016 freshman. He earned his second straight All-Pac-12 first team honor earlier this month.
Â
The junior from San Jose, Calif., broke USC's season records this year for stroke average (68.73), lowering Lovemark's 2007 mark (70.10). Suh's 21 rounds under 70 this year also broke Lovemark's school standard of 20 from the same season.
Â
Earlier this year, Suh became USC's ninth Pac-12 Player of the Year. In addition to his 21 rounds in the 60s, he had 23 rounds under par and 28 of par or better in 33 rounds.
Â
He finished the season with eight top four finishes in 11 starts and nine in the top nine.
Â
Suh is one of five finalists for the Jack Nicklaus Award, among 10 semifinalists for the 2018 Ben Hogan Award and has been among the top 3 all season on the 2018 Haskins Award Watch List. He has also been named to the Palmer Cup Team.
