USC Wins 7 More Events During The Final Day Of The MLK Jr. Collegiate Invitational

Trojans win 13 events during the 2-day meet
USC closed out the Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational with a bang, winning seven more events on the final day of the competition held at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, N.M. today (Jan. 19). USC won 13 events during the two-day meet, today winning the men's and women's 60m hurdles, women's 60m dash, the men's and women's 400m, the men's shot put and the women's 4x400m relay.
- Freshman Ayden Owens won the men's 60m hurdles with a time of 7.94, while fellow freshman Omotade Ojora was second with a time of 7.98 which moved him to ninth on USC's all-time list in the event. Owens ran 7.89 to qualify first out of the prelims, which moved him to seventh on USC's all-time list. Ojora had a time of 8.12 in the prelims which was 10th on USC's all-time list.
- Sophomore Chanel Brissett won the women's 60m hurdles final with a PR of 8.07, bettering her sixth-place standing on USC's all-time list. Redshirt senior Dior Hall was second at 8.08, junior Anna Cockrell was third at 8.17, junior Mecca McGlaston was fourth at 8.24 and senior Lyndsey Lopes was eighth at 8.61. In the prelims, the Trojans had the following times: Hall 8.15, Cockrell 8.28 (.273), McGlaston 8.28 (.277), Brissett 8.55 and Lopes 8.70.
- Sophomore TeeTee Terry won the women's 60m dash with a time of 7.22, while freshman Lanae-Tava Thomas was third at 7.39 and Chanel Brissett seventh at 7.58. In the prelims, Thomas ran 7.34, Terry 7.38 and Brissett 7.54, to qualify second, third and sixth respectively.
- In the men's 60m dash, freshman Brendon Stewart placed second, first among collegians, with a time of 6.74. He had a time of 6.71 in the prelims which established a school freshman record and ranks eighth on USC's all-time list. Sophomore Earvin da Silva was third with a PR of 6.81. He bettered his previous best of 6.86 run in the prelims. Freshman Daniel Robinson ran 6.96 in the final to place seventh after running 6.95 in the prelims. Freshman Eric Allen Jr. did not start in the final, but was third among the qualifiers with a time of 6.85 in the prelims. Sophomore Nick Moore ran 6.96 to finish ninth in the prelims.
- Sophomore Cameron Samuel won the men's 400m race with a PR of 47.94. His time bettered his seventh-place standing on USC's all-time indoor list.
- Sophomore Kaelin Roberts won the women's 400m race with a time of 52.54 which moved her to sixth on USC's all-time list. Junior Kyra Constantine placed second with a time of 53.08 and freshman Bailey Lear was third with a time of 53.17. Lear set the school freshman record and moves to ninth on USC's all-time list.
- Redshirt junior Matthew Katnik won the men's shot put with a mark of 61-2.25 (18.65m). Lopes placed 26th in the women's shot put with a best mark of 33-8.00 (10.26m).
- Redshirt senior Isabella Marten took second in the women's triple jump with a leap of 41-8.00 (12.70m). Her jump moved her to fifth on USC's indoor triple jump list.
- USC's "B" team of Lear, Constantine, Thomas and freshman Alyssa Brewer won the women's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:40.90. The "A" team of Cockrell, Roberts, Lopes and freshman Jemima Russell was third with a time of 3:42.32.
- USC's "B" team of sophomore Zach Shinnick, Owens, Robinson and junior Matthew Myrtue in the men's 4x400m relay placed second with a time of 3:12.07. The "A" team of Samuel, junior Isaiah Jewett, freshman Devin Bright and freshman Sam VanDorpe was third with a time of 3:12.50.
