October 04, 2019 | Men's Tennis, Features
Prequalifying rounds start Oct. 5, qualifying Oct. 7 and main draw action runs Oct. 9-13.
A set of five Trojans have individual action on tap in Tulsa ahead, with the St. Francis Health Systems ITA Men's All-American Championships locked in for Oct. 5-13 at the Michael D. Case Center in Tulsa, Okla.
The two newest Trojans, freshmen Stefan Dostanic and Ryder Jackson, are lined up for singles action in prequalifying Oct. 5-6 to push for advancement into the qualifying draw, which runs Oct. 7-8. There, three more Trojans also have their eyes on a run to the main draw. Sophomores Bradley Frye and Jake Sands both have qualifying slots, along with senior Riley Smith.Â
Ranked #58 in the nation in singles, Frye is also tabbed as an alternate for the main draw. He and Smith also are main draw alternates for doubles play, sitting ranked #28 in the land.Â
Smith, Sands and Frye all competed at the event last year. Frye snagged three wins in prequalifying action, and Sands scored two, but fell short of the qualifying draw. Smith got his 2018 run started in qualifying, going 1-1 to miss out on a trip to the main draw.
Newcomers Dostanic and Jackson get out of the gates in their prequalifying push tomorrow (Oct. 5) with 9 a.m. first-round matches. Dostanic will face Oscar Cutting of Memphis, while Jackson is up against Nicolas Mayr of Lamar.
