Frye And Jackson Score Doubles Title At SoCal Intercollegiates

Trojan pair wins USC’s sixth title of the fall.
LOS ANGELES, CALIF. — USC's sophomore-freshman combo pack of Bradley Frye and Ryder Jackson capped off fall competition by winning USC's sixth title of the fall, claiming the doubles crown at the Southern California Intercollegiate Championships today at Marks Stadium. It was a busy day for Jackson, who also played in the singles final, falling in three sets in the title match a few hours after winning it all on the doubles courts with Frye.
USC has had three different doubles pairs win titles this fall, and three different Trojans standing out with singles titles. At the Battle in the Bay, Brandon Holt won the singles crown and the doubles title with freshman Stefan Dostanic. Mor Bulis won the singles title at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic, and Daniel Cukierman won the singles championship at the Oracle ITA Masters. Holt and Riley Smith won the doubles title at the ITA Southwest Regionals, teeing up this latest Trojan duo of Frye and Jackson for the fall finale and another Trojan title.
Top seeds in the doubles draw, Frye and Jackson were a force to reckon with, surrendering no more than five games in any match. Today, Frye/Jackson nabbed an 8-5 semifinal win over Stanford's Rajesh/Turchetta in the morning to move into a midday title match against Arizona State's No. 2 seeded KIrkman/Rakotomalala. Frye/Jackson held strong again and posted yet another 8-5 win to claim the championship trophy.
Jackson's day wasn't done, though. He'd taken out the top seed yesterday in the semifinals on a straight-set victory and was up against No. 2 seeded and #46 ranked Filip Malbasic of Arizona in this afternoon's singles final. Jackson would force things into a third set, but stumbled down the stretch as Malbasic finished things out to claim the title with a 4-6, 6-4, 6-0 decision over the USC freshman.
That wraps the Trojans' fall campaign, with dual-match season on the horizon when the spring kicks off in January.
