Women of Troy Fall 4-0 To Stanford in Pac-12 Semifinals

The No. 4 seeded USC women's tennis team fell 4-0 to the No. 1 seed Stanford in the semifinals of the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Championship on Friday (April 26) in Ojai, Calif. With the loss, the Trojans now hold an 18-7 overall record.
Doubles kicked off the afternoon and the Trojans made their mark first. USC's No. 2 ranked Kulikov/Valdes claimed the first win by defeating Stanford's No. 14 Lampl/Yee on court one. The Cardinal earned a win of their own on court three as No. 51 Lord/Madrawe beat USC's Branstine/Jaeger 7-5. Finally, Stanford claimed the doubles point as No. 22 Arbuthnott/Gordon was victorious over USC's Weissmann/Willson 7-5.
Stanford continued to roll with the momentum gained from winning doubles. USC's Rianna Valdes fell to Stanford's No. 46 Emily Arbuthnott 6-3, 6-3 on court four. No. 68 Caroline Lampl put another point on the board for the Cardinal as she defeated USC's Ana Neffa 6-0, 7-6 (0) on court three. Finally, No. 106 Janice Shin would have the final word as she beat USC's Becca Weissmann 6-3, 6-4 on court five to clinch the match for Stanford.
With the loss ending USC's Pac-12 Championship run, the Trojans now await the NCAA Tennis Selection Show which will air on Monday (April 29) at 3:30 p.m. PT at NCAA.com.
