USC Women's Tennis Falls 4-1 to Pepperdine

The No. 13 ranked USC women's tennis team fell to No. 8 ranked Pepperdine 4-1 on Tuesday (April 9) at Marks Stadium. With the loss, the Trojans are now 16-4 on the season.
The Waves struck first in doubles as Lekaj/Milovanovic defeated USC's Branstine/Jaeger 6-2 on court three. The No. 10 ranked Trojan duo of Kulikov/Valdes defeated No. 31 ranked Failla/Iamachkine 6-2 on court one to even out the score. This was the Trojan pair's sixth straight victory and fifth win over a ranked pair this dual season. Pepperdine closed out doubles with a victory on court two as Lahey/Kuczer beat USC's Weissmann/Willson 6-3 to claim the doubles point.
Pepperdine's momentum continued through singles as No 84 Adrijana Lekaj beat USC's Rianna Valdes 6-1, 6-0 on court three. Trojan Ana Neffa held strong throughout her match to defeat Pepperdine's Dzina Milovanovic 6-3, 6-1 on court four to notch a point for the Women of Troy.
Trojan No. 96 Angela Kulikov fell to her Wave opponent, No. 57 Jessica Failla 6-0, 6-4. Finally, Pepperdine's No. 43 ranked Ashley Lahey would clinch the match for the Waves by defeating Trojan No. 46 Salma Ewing 6-4, 6-2 on court one.
After the match was clinched, the remaining courts suspended play.
The Trojans look ahead to a big weekend of Pac-12 Conference play. They will travel to Seattle to challenge No. 15 Washington on Friday (April 12) at 1:30 p.m. PT and then visit Pullman, Wa. where they will face No. 42 Washington State on Sunday (April 14) at 11 a.m. PT.
