Mor Bulis Wins Singles Crown At Milwaukee Tennis Classic

It’s the first tournament title as a Trojan for the sophomore.
MILWAUKEE, WISC. — Sophomore Mor Bulis capped off his tear through the singles draw at the Milwaukee Tennis Classic with another smooth straight-set victory to claim the singles championship today (Sept. 23). The singles crown is Bulis' first individual title as a Trojan and comes after surrendering just two sets in six matches at the event.
A spring addition to the Trojan roster in 2019, this was Bulis' first fall action at USC. He's settled right in, having cruised right through to this singles crown in Milwaukee. The No. 7 seed in the singles draw, Bulis opened up with a straight-set win in the Round of 64. After dropping the first set in his Round of 32 match, Bulis made a comeback push to win that one, and then did the same in the Round of 16 to force his way into the quarterfinals. There, Bulis was up against No. 2 seed and #24-ranked Giovanni Oradini of Mississippi State, and the USC sophomore was unfazed as he dispatched the higher seed in straight sets. He'd do the same to Alex Kobelt of UNLV in the semis, setting up his dominating effort in the final. Today, Bulis topped Notre Dame's No. 6 seeded Richard Ciamarra 6-3, 6-2 to stake his claim on the trophy.
Bulis' championship run follows up a sweep of titles won by Trojans at the Battle in the Bay Classic yesterday (Sept. 22). At that San Francisco event, USC senior Brandon Holt won the singles title and also combined forces with freshman Stefan Dostanic to win the doubles crown.
Also in action in Milwaukee were Bulis' fellow sophomores Bradley Frye and Jake Sands. Both rang up wins in their first two matches, but fell in the Round of 16 to wrap their runs in Milwaukee. Bulis and Frye also paired up in doubles, going 1-1 with a Round of 16 appearance.
