No. 13 USC Lacrosse Takes Down SDSU for Fourth Straight Win

The Women of Troy start the season 4-0 for only the second time in program history
LOS ANGELES – The 13th-ranked USC lacrosse team (4-0) earned a 14-6 win over San Diego State (1-2) at McAlister Field on Sunday, Feb. 23. The 4-0 start is the second best in program history behind only the 2016 NCAA quarterfinal squad that went 20-0.

- Gr. attacker Emily Concialdi collected four ground balls, three caused turnovers; and notched two goals and two assists.
- Sr. attacker Izzy McMahon dished out a game-high four assists and scored two goals.
- Jr. attacker Sophia Donovan recorded her seventh-career hat trick with three goals.
- Jr. midfielder Kelsey Huff booked her first hat trick of the season with three goals (15th career) and added two caused turnovers, one ground ball, and a draw control.
- Jr. goalie Riley Hertford put up another 11 saves and had two ground balls in her 20th-career victory.
- So. midfielder Katie Ramsay led all players with seven draw controls and had a pair of ground balls and a caused turnover.
- Sr. midfielder Kerrigan Miller scored her lone goal on a behind-the-back shot from free position. Miller added an assist and tallied five ground balls to go with two caused turnovers and four draw controls.
- For the Aztecs, Katy Sharretts had 13 saves in the loss. Cailin Young scored two goals and four other SDSU players each scored one goal apiece. Lexi Tan scored one and had three ground balls. Emily Resnick scored a goal, had an assist, picked up four ground balls, won four draws, and caused two turnovers.
- San Diego State jumped out and grabbed momentum right away with back-to-back goals from Tan and Resnick for a 2-0 lead, but Huff answered with the first of her three goals to jumpstart the Trojan offense.
- USC held the Aztecs scoreless for the next 45:54 during a massive 13-0 scoring barrage to start the running clock. The Trojans led, 7-2, at the half and grabbed a 12-2 lead on a goal by Erin Bakes.
- SDSU pushed back down the stretch and scored four in a row over a five-minute stretch to trim the lead to seven (13-6) with under five minutes to play. Senior attacker Sarah Larkin scored from free position to make it 14-6 with under a minute to play and the Trojans held on to complete the eight-goal victory.
- USC improved to 9-0 all-time against San Diego State with a 5-0 mark against the Aztecs at McAlister Field.
- The Trojans improved to 45-11 (.804) all-time at McAlister Field and to 49-13 (.790) in all-time home games.
- USC's 4-0 start is the second-best start in program history behind only 2016's 20-0 start.
- This win is the 99th-career victory for eighth-year head coach Lindsey Munday; now just one from her 100th win.
