LOS ANGELES--The USC women's tennis team took to the court at Marks Stadium today (Feb. 29) and defeated Loyola Marymount 4-2. The Women of Troy are now 7-4 on the 2020 season.
USC came out swinging in doubles as USC's Con. Branstine/Neffa swiftly defeated the Lion pair of De Lucas/Voracek 6-1 on court two. Almost immediately after, USC's Cayetano/Kulikov defeated LMU's Miroschnichenko/Filip 6-1 to claim the doubles point. They continued their momentum from yesterday's match (Feb. 28) against UCLA when they defeated the No. 1 pair in the nation. USC entered singles with a 1-0 lead over the Lions.
In singles, Loyola Marymount struck first as Katerina Filip beat USC senior Sydney Van Alphen 6-2, 6-1 on court four. Trojan senior Constance Branstine responded with a win of her own as she defeated Lion Siobhan Anderson 6-3, 6-4 on court six to push USC ahead 2-1.
Trojan junior Ana Neffa beat Loyola Marymount's Lillian Gabrielsen 7-5, 6-1 to extend USC's lead to 3-1. The Lions hadn't yet given up as Nevada Apollo beat USC sophomore Danielle Willson 6-4, 6-3 on court three to notch another point for Loyola Marymount.
