USC Women’s Tennis Visits Northern California for Road Matches Against Stanford and California

THIS WEEK
The USC women's tennis team kicks off Pac-12 Conference play with a trip to Northern California to challenge No. 9 Stanford in Palo Alto on Friday (Mar. 6) at 1:30 p.m. PST at the Taube Family Tennis Center, and California in Berkeley on Saturday (Mar. 7) at 12 p.m. PST at the Hellman Tennis Complex.
ORACLE/ITA RANKINGS UPDATES
In the most recent Oracle/ITA Rankings (Mar. 3), the Trojans are now the No. 37 ranked team in the nation. USC boasts two nationally ranked singles players in senior captain Angela Kulikov at No. 27 and freshman Eryn Cayetano at No. 44. In last week's match versus UCLA, Cayetano upset No. 8 ranked Abbey Forbes 7-6(1), 1-6, 6-4, and she also clinched USC's match against Loyola Marymount. In doubles, the USC duo of Angela Kulikov/Danielle Willson is also ranked at No. 33.
GOING STREAKING
The Trojan tandem of Cayetano/Kulikov is making a statement in doubles. The duo is 8-0 all from the No. 1 position in the 2020 dual match season. They have defeated three Top 25 ranked doubles teams, including upsetting UCLA's No. 1 ranked Bolton/Hart 6-1 last Friday (Feb. 28).
SCOUTING STANFORD
The No. 9 ranked Stanford Cardinal is 9-1 overall on the 2020 season, with their only loss coming at the hands of UCLA in a non-conference match. The team boasts four nationally ranked singles players: No. 12 Michaela Gordon, No. 97 Janice Shin, No. 117 Angelica Blake and No. 121 Emily Arbuthnott. In addition, the Cardinal have two ranked doubles pairs: No. 19 Arbuthnott/Blake and No. 43 Choy/Higuchi. Stanford most recently defeated Saint Mary's 7-0 on Mar. 3 and had a strong 4-3 victory over No. 3 Texas on Feb. 22.
SCOUTING CALIFORNIA
While the California Golden Bears are not nationally ranked, they have three ranked singles players in No. 15 Haley Giavara, No. 34 Valentine Ivanov and No. 57 Julia Rosenqvist. In doubles, the Golden Bears are lead by No. 31 Bright/Giavara. California is 2-3 on the 2020 dual match season. In their last match on Feb. 29, they beat San Diego State 7-0.
