The Trojans were defeated, 15-3, by the Seawolves on Long Island
STONY BROOK, N.Y. – The 15th-ranked USC lacrosse team (1-1) finished on the short end of a 15-3 result at fifth-ranked Stony Brook (2-1) at Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium on Tuesday, Feb. 23. The Women of Troy suffered their first loss of the season after having this game scheduled five days ago as a replacement after the cancellation of a game against New Hampshire.

- Stony Brook attacker Taryn Ohlmiller led all scorers with six goals and finished with seven points. Ally Kennedy had three goals and led the Seawolves with eight draw controls and five ground balls. Former Trojan Kaeli Huff scored twice and picked up one ground ball. In goal, Kameron Halsall got the win with six saves.
- Gr. attacker Maddie McDaniel led the Trojans with five draw controls.
- Sr. attackers Izzy McMahon and Sophia Donovan, and Sr. midfielder Kelsey Huff each scored one goal apiece.
- In goal, Sr. goalie Riley Hertford posted 12 saves for her sixth-career game in double-digit saves.
- Defensively, Jr. midfielder Katie Ramsay had two caused turnovers and senior defender Lizzy Wagner had two caused turnovers with one ground ball.
- Stony Brook scored the first four goals in just under seven minutes, but USC answered with back-to-back goals from Donovan and McMahon to trim the lead to two. USC miscues on offense and difficulty transitioning the ball allowed the Seawolves to keep the Trojans scoreless for the remainder of the first half en route to a 10-2 lead at the break.
- SBU out-shot USC, 35-15, and was successful on 21 of 24 clears. The Seawolves had a slight 11-9 edge in the center circle, but caused only six of the Trojans' 21 turnovers.
- USC went scoreless for 28:04 and trailed the Seawolves by 12 goals when Huff scored the third goal of the day. Stony Brook scored one more with 10 minutes remaining to make the final tally, 15-3.
- USC remains on the East Coast for a game at 13th-ranked Boston College (0-0) on Friday (Feb. 26) at the Newton Lacrosse Field in Newton, Mass. First draw is set for 12:30 p.m. ET (9:30 a.m. PT) and the game will be shown live on the ACC Network and through WatchESPN.com.
- USC fell to 1-5 in six all-time meetings with Stony Brook but lost by the largest margin in series history (12).
- The Trojans fell to 14-16 all-time in games played in the Eastern Time Zone and to 3-5 in the state of New York.
- USC dropped to 23-31 against IWLCA ranked opponents; 10-14 against teams ranked in the top 10 (3-8 on the road) and to 2-11 all-time against opponents ranked in the top five.
