USC Women’s Basketball Overwhelms Utah State 79-48 To Stay Undefeated

LOS ANGELES — The USC women's basketball team took control out of the gates in its hottest shooting game of the Trojans' undefeated start to the season. USC led wire-to-wire and shot 55.8 percent from the floor to outpace visiting Utah State 79-48 today at Galen Center. The win keeps USC's record unblemished, now at 6-0 on the year, while Utah State goes to 1-5.
USC was clicking at a 62-percent clip from the floor in the first half of action tolled Utah State 43-24 by halftime. The Aggies were shooting 35.7 percent to that point, while USC led on the boards 17-11 while boasting two Trojans in double digits by the break. USC's offensive output stayed productive, as the Trojans closed things out shooting 55.8 overall with a 10-of-21 effort from 3-point land. The Aggies wrapped a 31.7 percent and never caught up on the boards as USC finished ahead 37-29 on the rebounding front.
USC had three players hit double digits today, led by Kadi Sissoko's 20 points and 18 from Rayah Marshall, with Destiny Littleton adding 14 for the Trojans. Kayla Williams, meanwhile, served up a season-high seven assists. Utah State received 16 points from Tamiah Robinson and 12 from Olivia Wilkstrom.
USC got out of the gates hot, shooting 6-for-6 from the floor in the first three minutes in building out an early 12-5 lead. In the last four minutes of the game, USC planted four 3-pointers as Taylor Bigby bookended threes from Destiny Littleton and Alyson Miura to build out a 26-12 Trojan lead after 10 minutes of action. USC crafted an 8-0 run in the second to balloon its lead to 36-16 as Rayah Marshall got into double digits and also extended her blocks streak out to 29 straight games along the way. Okako Adika joined the 3-point parade and then Kadi Sissoko worked her way into double figures with her 10th points in taking USC ahead 41-20 midway through the second. At the close of the half, USC gripped a 43-24 lead.
In the third, the scoring pace slowed a bit, although Littleton and Miura would each bury their second threes of the day to help the Trojans along to a 59-34 lead entering the fourth. There, the Trojans manufactured an 11-2 rally that built out a 76-40 advantage, and USC stayed well in control on the way to a final 79-48 victory.

USC continues its home stretch next week with two more games at Galen Center. The Trojans host California Baptist on Wednesday (Nov. 30) at 7 p.m. and then take on Merrimack on Saturday (Dec. 3).
