No. 20 USC Women’s Tennis Picks Up 4-0 Win Over Arizona

The No. 20 USC Women's tennis team picked up where they left off last night, tallying a 4-0 victory over Pac-12 rival Arizona on Saturday (March 12) to kick off a double-header at Marks Stadium. With the win, the Trojans improve to 9-7, 3-1.
The Women of Troy's duo of Salma Ewing and Sloane Morra handled business early, defeating Arizona's Prelle/Ryngler 6-1 on court three. Over on court three, Eryn Cayetano and Danielle Willson posted a 6-1 win over Wildcats Castillo-Meza/Wilkins to claim the doubles point for USC. With the doubles point decided, the match on center court between Han/Cheong and Fry/Iglupas (Ariz.) was suspended at 4-4.
With the one point advantage, USC's #20 Salma Ewing got to work, putting on quite the show on center court to defeat Arizona's Salma Ziouti 6-3, 6-0 to put the Trojans up 2-0. During her first weekend back on the court, sophomore Naomi Cheong battled on court four to beat Midori Castillo-Meza (Ariz.) 6-3, 6-3 to give the Trojans a 3-0 lead. The No. 6 ranked Eryn Cayetano clinched the match for USC, downing Arizona's Lexi Ryngler 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 on court two. With the match clinched, action on courts three and five was suspended.
USC continues action this afternoon with a match against Hawaii Pacific at 4 p.m. PT at Marks Stadium.
