The Trojans fell to 10-4 in home matches this fall

LOS ANGELES – The No. 23-ranked USC women's volleyball team (17-8, 9-6 Big Ten) was swept by No. 6 Wisconsin (19-5, 13-2) in straight sets (25-18, 25-19, 25-12) at Galen Center on Thursday, Nov. 14.

KEY PLAYERS

Gr. OH Ally Batenhorst led the Trojans with eight kills and had six digs with one of the Trojans three service aces.
Sr. S Mia Tuaniga put up 18 assists and had three digs and a kill.
Redshirt Jr. MB Tyrah Ariail scored three kills on .500 hitting.
Redshirt Fr. MB Leah Ford had four kills (1e, 11att) with .271 hitting.
Fr. OPP Jadyn Livings had five kills, four digs, and a service ace.
For the Badgers, Sarah Franklin led all players with 13 kills, five digs, and two service aces. Carter Booth scored nine kills on 16 swings to hit .562. Charlie Fuerbringer put up 35 assists with nine digs and two service aces.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Batenhorst had five kills to pace the USC attack in set one, but the Badgers used several short runs to finish off a 25-18 win. The set was tied seven times and the Trojans led twice, but Wisconsin got four kills from Franklin and three from Booth to hit .212 with 12 kills. UW collected four aces and had the edge in digs (14-13) and blocks (2-1).
Wisconsin went on top, 2-0, to take the white flag on a 25-19 win in set two. The Badgers were led by an eight-kill performance from Franklin and got four more kills from Booth. The Badgers wound up hitting .471 in the second frame with 19 kills (3e) on 34 swings. Batenhorst and Livings each had three kills, but Wisconsin dug up 16 balls to hold USC to a .219 hitting percentage (11k, 4e) on 32 attempts.
The Trojans scored six kills and hit negative .097 in the third and Wisconsin never trailed en route to a 25-12 win to sew up the sweep. The Badgers picked up the six pack and collected six of their nine blocks in the third set. Wisconsin also had nine kills (2e) on 23 attacks to hit .304.

USC hosts No. 11 Oregon (18-5, 10-4) on Sunday (Nov. 17) at 1 p.m. PT in a match that will be streamed on Big Ten Plus.

MATCH NOTES

USC fell to 3-6 all-time in nine meetings with Wisconsin and to 0-1 in home matches.
The Trojans go to 10-4 in home matches this season and fell to 214-60 all-time at Galen Center.
Wisconsin held the Women of Troy to season lows in kills (28), hitting percentage (.079), and blocks (2.0).
