The Trojans look to end a three-match streak of losses when it faces Maryland and Rutgers on the road this week

LOS ANGELES – USC (9-13, 3-9 Big Ten) takes its longest flights of the season when it heads to the Northeast to take on Maryland (12-11, 2-10) on Thursday (Nov. 5) and Rutgers (11-13, 2-10) on Saturday (Nov. 7). The Trojans look to snap a three-match losing streak and build momentum as the regular season comes to a close. Both matches will be shown live on Big Ten Plus.

FIRST SERVE (TL;DR)

USC is led by fourth-year associate head coach Megan Moenoa who was named the Trojans' interim head coach on Oct. 5, 2026.
The Women of Troy are 2-1 in the state of Maryland and 1-0 in New Jersey. USC fell to the Terrapins on the road in 2017 and will make only its second visit to the Garden State following a 3-0 win over Rutgers in 2024.
USC takes its last and longest flight of the regular season this week when it goes from LAX to BWI. The Trojans also played in the Eastern Time Zone for road matches at Purdue (Oct. 9) and Indiana (Oct. 11).
The Trojans rank second in the Big Ten in blocks (2.62 bps) and rank 24th in the NCAA. USC has put up double-digit blocks in nine matches this season.
RS Jr. MB Leah Ford ranks seventh in the Big Ten for blocks (1.22 bps) and Jr. MB Mia Tvrdy (1.19 bps) ranks ninth in the league.
So. OPP Abigail Mullen is USC's leading scorer at 3.73 points per set. RS Jr. OH London Wijay averages 3.45 pps for second on the team.

LAST TIME OUT: The Women of Troy took on its ninth and 10th ranked opponents of the season and pushed No. 6 Wisconsin before falling to the Badgers in a four-set decision; and took a straight-set loss to No. 21 Minnesota. The two losses were USC's fifth and sixth without a home victory against Big Ten opponents. London Wijay poured in 20 kills and hit .450 to go with 10 digs for a double-double against Wisconsin while Abigail Mullen had a 16-kill performance and added 12 more in the match against the Golden Gophers.

BLOCKHEADS: USC ranks second in the Big Ten in blocks (2.62 bps) and is 24th in the NCAA. The Trojans have reached double-digit blocks in nine contests this fall including a season-high 20.5 in a win over UC Santa Barbara (Sept. 20). The Trojans concluded 2025 as the league's leaders with 2.76 blocks per set.

B1G POW WOW: Following an astounding 16-block performance, MB Mia Tvrdy earned the first Big Ten weekly award won by a Trojan in 2026 and was named the Defensive Player of the Week of the first time in her career. Five different Trojans garnered a total of 11 Big Ten conference weekly awards in 2025. Since joining the league in 2024, Trojans have earned Big Ten weekly awards 16 times.

B1G AND SMALL: Only three Big Ten teams hold winning records against the Trojans. Wisconsin is 7-4 against USC, Penn State is 5-2, and Illinois is 5-4 against the Women of Troy. In fact, USC has not lost to three different conference foes: Iowa (3-0), Northwestern (4-0), and Rutgers (2-0).

ANIMAL STYLE: Six Trojans own career double-doubles. S Lilli Etter has produced 23 double-doubles (including 21 over two seasons at Boise State). OH London Wijay (20) and OPP Abigail Mullen (10) follow while MB Leah Ford, OH Adonia Faumuina, LIB Taylor Deckert, and S Milly McGee have had one each in their careers.
