No. 16 USC Women's Tennis Falls to No. 1 North Carolina During First Round of ITA Indoors

SEATTLE – The No. 16 ranked USC women's tennis fell to No. 1 North Carolina in the first round of the ITA National Indoor Championship at the Nordstrom Tennis Center on Friday, Feb. 9.
The Trojans came up short in doubles as No. 52 ranked Parker Fry and Grace Piper would fall 6-2 on court two to North Carolina's No. 11 ranked Fiona Crawley and Carson Tanguilig. Then, USC's No. 15 ranked duo of Eryn Cayetano and Emma Charney were defeated by the Tar Heel's No. 1 ranked duo Reese Brantmeier and Elizabeth Scotty with a 6-3 score line on center court, giving the doubles point to UNC.
As singles play began, the Women of Troy tied the score, with No. 95 Eryn Ceyetano downing No. 62 ranked Abbey Forbes 7-5, 6-0 on court four.
USC dropped three of the four counting singles matches as UNC clinched the victory. Courts two and five went unfinished.
USC is back in action next at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Feb. 10 against either Washington or No. 8 North Carolina State.
