USC Baseball Falls at San Diego, 9-3

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The USC baseball team dropped a non-conference matchup at San Diego on Tuesday night, falling 9-3 to the Toreros.
USC falls to 11-16 with the loss, while San Diego improves to 17-10 on the year.
USC got on the board first, thanks to a solo-home run by Ryan Jackson in the first inning that went off the foul pole in right field. The Trojans doubled their lead in the second on an RBI groundout by Abbrie Covarrubias.
San Diego got a run back in the bottom of the second and then tied the game on a solo-shot by Gabe D'Arcy in the fourth. The Toreros scored twice in the fifth to take the lead, getting an RBI bunt single and a bases-loaded walk. A two-run homer from Jack Gurevitch extended the lead for the home team in the seventh.
USC loaded the bases in the eighth, but came away with just one run to cut it to a 6-3 game. San Diego answered with three runs in the bottom half of the inning.

The Trojans have another midweek contest tomorrow night as they host UC San Diego at LMU. USC then welcomes Washington to Great Park in Irvine for a three-game series starting on Friday.
