USC Baseball Falls to Sacramento State, 5-4

IRVINE, Calif. – The USC baseball team had the tying run on third in the ninth, but couldn't complete the comeback as the Trojans fell to Sacramento State, 5-4, on Sunday afternoon at Great Park.
USC Falls to 19-21 with the loss, while Sacramento State improves to 21-21.
The Hornets went up 4-0 in the fourth inning and added a run in the sixth to take down USC. The Trojans scored one run in the bottom of the fourth and then cut it to a 4-3 game with a pair of runs in the fifth, but the Sac State run in the sixth put the game out of reach.
USC got an RBI single from Dean Carpentier in the seventh and then Kevin Takeuchi walked in the ninth and ended up on third, but he was stranded there to end the game. The Trojans left runners on in both the seventh and ninth innings.
