USC Baseball Hosts Utah for Regular Season Finale

THIS WEEK: The USC baseball team closes out the regular season at home, hosting Utah for a three-game series starting on Thursday.

1974 CHAMPIONSHIP ANNIVERSARY: USC will have a pregame ceremony recognizing the 50th anniversary of the 1974 CWS Championship team prior to Friday night's contest. The ceremony will start at 6:00 p.m., with members of the 1974 team being honored on the field prior to first pitch.

SENIOR DAY: USC will honor its graduating seniors before Saturday's game, with a pregame ceremony starting at 12:30 p.m. Channing Austin, Chris Brown, Connor Clift, Jared Feikes, Eric Hammond, Ryan Jackson, Tyler Stromsborg and Carson Wells will all be honored.

PAC-12 TOURNAMENT: USC secured its spot in the Pac-12 Tournament with its win on Saturday over Washington State. The Tournament will be held in Scottsdale, Ariz. May 21-25. USC is currently the sixth-seed, but could move up or down depending on results this weekend.

ALL-TIME SERIES VS UTAH: USC owns a 26-16 all-time record against the Utes, dating back to 1951. USC took 2-of-3 in Utah last season, winning the first two games before dropping the finale. Tyler Stromsborg tossed a complete-game shutout in the opener last season.

TUESDAY VS GONZAGA: USC took down Gonzaga 15-3 on the road Tuesday night, posting a season high 17 hits in the contest. The Trojan pitching gave up two runs in the first and didn't allow another run until the ninth, while the USC bats busted the game open with seven runs in the sixth. Kevin Takeuchi drove in four in the game and Brayden Dowd went 3-for-3.

WEEKEND VS WSU: The Trojans dropped the opening game at Washington State, but won on Saturday and Sunday to take the series and clinch a spot in the Pac-12 Tournament. USC used a five-run fifth inning to come back in the Saturday contest, winning 9-4. The Trojans then got a strong start from Will Watson on Sunday as he went 5.1 innings and gave up three runs, while Connor Clift busted the game open with a three-run shot in the sixth inning.
