No. 17 USC Women's Tennis Set for Home Opener Against No. 7 Texas
January 16, 2025 | Women's Tennis
Trojans open dual action with matches against Texas and UC Irvine.
LOS ANGELES – The spring season has officially arrived for No. 17 USC women's tennis, who will take the court at Marks Stadium this weekend to kick-off dual action.Â
Â
After a strong fall competition season, the Women of Troy will face stiff competition on Friday afternoon when they take on No.7 Texas at noon at Marks Stadium. It will be the first dual of the season for both teams as they look to gain momentum heading into next weekend's ITA Kickoff event.Â
Â
USC will need strong performances from No. 37 senior Grace Piper, No. 45 junior Emma Charney and No. 57 sophomore Immi Haddad to topple the Longhorns, who currently boast four players in the top 100. On the doubles side, the No. 7 pairing of Piper and sophomore Lily Fairclough will look to lead the way on center court.Â
Â
Following the showdown with Texas, the Women of Troy will return to the court on Saturday at 1 p.m. PT to take on local rival UC Irvine. The Anteaters do not currently have any nationally ranked players.
Â
LAST SEASON
The Women of Troy are looking to start the spring season off strong, coming off a tremendous 2024 season. The team stormed to a 20-9 record last spring, including an 8-2 record in the final season of Pac-12 conference play. USC also advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Championship Tournament and saw three individuals qualify for the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championship.Â
Â
FALL RECAP
A pair of Trojans qualified for the inaugural NCAA Fall Singles and Doubles Championships in November, as Grace Piper competed in singles and doubles alongside Lily Fairclough. Piper and Fairclough reached the second round of competition, while individually Piper fell in her opening singles match.Â
Â
Entering spring, Trojan Immi Haddad leads the Women of Troy with an overall singles record of 10-5. Shortly behind her are Emma Charney and Parker Fry, who each carry 9-5 singles records. Piper and Fairclough are USC's most successful duo by the numbers, currently carrying a 6-3 record.Â
