USC Men’s Tennis Outduels Oklahoma State at ITA Kickoff Weekend

The Trojans finish third in the Arizona regional, as they took down the Cowboys 4-0 in the consolation match
TUCSON, Ariz. – USC men's tennis (3-1) rebounded in the ITA Kickoff Weekend consolation match, as it swept Oklahoma State (0-4), 4-0, on Sunday, Jan. 26, at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center.
The Trojans went a perfect 2-0 in doubles and 3-0 in singles as freshman Nathan Trouve clinched it in a three-setter and sophomore Volodymyr Iakubenko picked up his first win of the year in the 4-0 victory.
USC's doubles squads came out firing as the doubles segment of the dual around 25 minutes. The freshmen duo of Matteo Morazzi and Trouve claimed a decisive 6-1 victory, and the pairing of junior Oscar Weightman and Iakubenko clinched the point by winning 6-3 on court three.
In singles, the same players who made their statement in doubles did the same on the other side of the court. Finishing first on court No. 6 was Morazzi, as he recorded the 6-1, 6-0 decision. Iakubenko would win his first match of the year on court No. 3, 6-4, 7-5, and Trouve would clinch the match on court No. 2, 4-6, 6-2, 7-5.
The Trojans return to David X. Marks Stadium for a three-match weekend. They will host No. 18 Stanford at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, followed by a doubleheader with California and UNLV at 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 2, in Los Angeles.
