POSTSEASON PICTURE - The Trojans currently hold the final spot in the Big Ten Tournament and with a win will secure their place in conference postseason play. Indiana, Nebraska and Michigan are all within three points of the Trojans, so a loss or tie would mean USC possibly would need help to get in. The Trojans are also one point back of Penn State and three back of Northwestern, so USC could move as high as the eighth seed in the conference tournament.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS UCLA - UCLA leads the all-time series between the teams, 28-8-3, but since Head Coach Jane Alukonis took over in 2022, the Trojans are 2-1 against the Bruins. USC won the meeting between the teams last year, securing the Big Ten regular season title with a dramatic 1-0 victory at Dignity Health Sports Park in front of more than 6,000 fans. Dating back to 2020, the series is tied, 2-2-2.
LAST WEEK - The Trojans fell to Nebraska in their first game last week as they were unable to find a late equalizer in a 3-2 contest at home. USC then played to a draw with then-No. 5 Iowa, scoring twice in the first half, only for the Hawkeyes to come back with two goals of their own in the second half.
RAWLINSON STADIUM - USC made a big investment in the women's soccer program with the construction of Rawlinson Stadium. The $38 million project was announced in 2023 and broke ground on April 9, 2024, with construction finishing this summer. The stadium was built over the site of the former McAlister Field and has a maximum capacity of 2,500 fans. USC held a ribbon cutting ceremony prior to the season opener against CBU on August 17.
ANDERSON AT OREGON - USC earned a hard-fought 1-0 victory on the road at Oregon on Friday afternoon, with Jaiden Anderson scoring the game-winner in the 86th minute. The Trojans controlled much of the match, outshooting the Ducks 15-9 and holding 64% of the possession, but it took until the final minutes to find the breakthrough. Bella Grust recorded her fifth clean sheet of the season with four saves, while the USC defense limited Oregon to just two first-half shots.
GRITTY WIN VS RUTGERS - USC completed their most recent two-game homestand with a 2-1 victory against Rutgers at Rawlinson Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 28. Jaiden Anderson and Ines Derrien scored the USC goals in the first half. Rutgers pulled one back late in the match, but the Trojan defense made the lead stand up as USC had a 12-8 shots advantage and 5-1 corners advantage.
SHUTOUT VS MARYLAND - The Trojans bounced back with a dominant performance against Maryland last Thursday night, taking down the Terrapins 3-0. Mary Flores opened the scoring with a stunning free kick goal in the 7th minute, then Katie Park made it 2-0 before the half by drawing a PK and converting the kick. Eleanor Morrissey found Hana Mizumoto with a long pass and Mizumoto chipped the keeper to make it 3-0 in the 89th minute. USC held 60% of the possession in the game and limited Maryland to just four shots, posting their fourth shutout of the season.
RODRIGUEZ WORLD CUP CALL UP - Freshman Jaiden Rodriguez was called up by the U.S. Youth National Team for the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Morocco later this month. Rodriguez was previously called up by the USYNT for friendlies in Spain earlier this season. The U-17 World Cup will run Oct. 17-Nov. 8.
