For the third time this season, and second time this month, Davidson earns Big Ten weekly honors.
LOS ANGELES - Fresh off a career-high 24 point performance yesterday against Cal, USC freshman Jazzy Davidson has been named the Big Ten Conference's Freshman of the Week. This marks the third time this season Davidson has earned conference FOW honors.
The freshman turned in a pair of double-digit performances this past week, helping USC to nonconference wins over Cal Poly (Dec. 18 - 86-39) and Cal (Dec. 21 - 61-57).
Against Cal, Davidson recorded her ninth consecutive double-figure scoring performance (11 total this season), posting a career and team-high 24 points. She also added four rebounds, four blocks, two assists and two steals, while matching her career best with three made three-pointers. The freshman guard also recorded her fourth 20-point outing of the year as the Trojans improved to 9-3 overall.
Against Cal Poly, Davidson scored 17 points and added nine rebounds, four assists and a career-high six steals, while also recording one block.
The guard currently leads the Big Ten in blocks and blocks per game and has recorded a minimum of one block in every game this season (12 games).
The freshman currently leads the Trojans in every major statistical category (16.8 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 3.8 apg, 2.0 spg and 2.5 bpg) and averages a team-high 32.41 minutes played per game, helping her squad pick up two nonconference victories in the last week alone.
Davidson and the No. 17 Trojans now take a short break for the Holidays before resuming Big Ten play on Dec. 29 as the Trojans travel to Lincoln, Neb. for a noon PT game against the Cornhuskers.
