
No. 21 USC Lacrosse Falls to No. 10 Johns Hopkins

LOS ANGELES – No. 21 USC Lacrosse (7-2, 0-1 Big Ten) dropped its Big Ten opener, as it fell to No. 10 Johns Hopkins (6-2, 1-0 Big Ten), 17-11 on Sunday, Mar. 16 at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.
KEY PLAYERS:
USC returns to action with two-ranked opponents. It takes on No. 11 Michigan at 3 p.m. PT on Thursday, Mar. 20, in Ann Arbor, Mich. Following that will be a trip to Columbus, Ohio, where the Trojans will face the Ohio State Buckeyes at 9 a.m. PT on Sunday, Mar. 23.

KEY PLAYERS:
- Senior Maddie Dora collected her ninth hat trick of the season as she scored four goals. Dora earned her 100th career goal at 13:03 when she scored her third of four goals.
- Defensively, senior Catherine Lord and junior Kate Gerrity caused three turnovers and added three ground balls.
- Sophomore Annie Shields started the game, allowed eight goals, and had one save. Freshman Charlotte Morton relieved Shields in the second quarter as she allowed nine goals and had four saves.
- Redshirt sophomore Hannah Barron had five draw controls, and junior Maggie Ramsay added three draw controls.
- The Blue Jays opened the game dominant throughout the first half, as they outscored the Trojans 11-5. Both sides were shot heavy during the half, as Johns Hopkins had 14 shots on goals, and USC had nine. However, the most significant difference of the half was that the Blue Jays had 13 draw controls, and the Trojans were limited to only six.
- In the third quarter, USC found some more momentum, as it outscored JHU 4-2 in that quarter. The success came early, as Dora scored twice within the first two minutes of the quarter. The senior would add to the scoresheet as she scored a third-quarter hat trick at 8:10. Redshirt sophomore Hannah Barron was the other scorer in the quarter, as USC limited the Blue Jays to only two.
- JHU would build the lead back up in the fourth, scoring four compared to USC's two to make the final score 17-11.
