Three Trojans had double-digit kills in a five-set loss to the Cardinal
LOS ANGELES – The No. 3-ranked USC men's volleyball team (19-4, 7-2 MPSF) was defeated in five sets (25-27, 25-19, 20-25, 25-19, 15-13) by No. 13 Stanford (10-12, 3-6) at Galen Center on Friday, April 11.

- Fr. OPP Christian Connell led the Trojans with 14 kills (4e, 35att) and hit .286 to go with eight digs, three blocks (one solo), and a service ace. It was his third-career match in double-digit kills and double-digit points.
- Fr. OH Sterling Foley added 13 kills (5e, 27att) on .296 hitting and had four digs and three blocks. It was his 11th match in double-digit kills and his 16th in double-digit points (14.5).
- Jr. OH Dillon Klein scored 12 kills and had three digs and three blocks (one solo).
- Fr. MB Parker Tomkinson had nine kills (3e, 22att, .273) with five blocks for his 10th match in double-digit points (12.5).
- Fr. LIB Johnny Dykstra picked up nine digs to lead the Trojans.
- Gr. MB Guy Genis put up six kills (0e) on eight swings to hit .750 and had four blocks (one solo).
- For the Cardinal, Theo Snoey and Moses Wagner each had 25 kills apiece. Wagner hit .465 and had eight digs and four blocks. Snoey hit .333 and had three digs. Nate Clinton had 11 kills on .304 hitting and a pair of service aces. Evan Porter had 17 digs and eight assists; and Theoren Brouillette put up 57 assists to go with 11 digs for a double-double.
- The Trojans led by as many as five through the midsection of set one and had that lead at 15-10, but the Cardinal ripped through a 6-0 run and turned the tables to lead by as many as three at 22-19. USC stayed the course and completed a 27-25 win by putting up four blocks to hold the Cardinal to a .179 hitting percentage (16k, 9e, 39att). USC hit .214 in the opening frame (11k, 5e) on 28 attempts and were led by four kills apiece from Connell and Foley.
- Stanford equalized with a 25-19 win in set two behind six kills from Wagner and four from Snoey. The Cardinal hit .435 with 13 kills (3e) on 23 swings and put up 3.5 blocks to hold USC to a .107 attack rate (10k, 7e).
- USC stormed back and never trailed en route to a 25-20 win in the third to take a 2-1 lead. The Trojans hit .542 with 15 kills (2e, 24att) and were led by Foley who had five and Klein who had four kills in the set. Snoey had six more kills and Wagner added four to help the Cardinal hit .360 in the loss.
- Stanford led wire-to-wire to force set five with another 25-19 win in the fourth. Wagner had five kills to lead a Cardinal attack that hit .367 to eclipse the Trojans' .097 attack rate. Klein and Connell each had three kills in set four.
- Both teams had seven digs in the fifth and USC hit .600 with 12 kills (0e) on 20 swings but were outdone by a Stanford attack that hit .591 with 14 kills (1e) on 22 swings. Snoey poured in seven more kills and Wagner added five.
- USC and Stanford meet for a rematch at Galen Center on Saturday (April 12) at 5 p.m. PT. The match will be shown live on a Big Ten Plus (B1G+) stream.
- USC falls to 72-40 all-time against Stanford as the Cardinal wins its fourth straight over the Trojans.
- The Trojans reached double-digit blocks for the 12th time this season (12.0).
