No. 16 USC Women’s Tennis Downs Iowa 4-0

IOWA CITY, Iowa – No. 16 USC Women's Tennis picked up a conference road win on Sunday, downing Iowa 4-0. With the win, USC improves to 13-5 overall and 7-3 in Big Ten play.
USC dominated the Hawkeyes from start to finish, claiming the doubles point and following it up with three straight singles points to record their second sweep of the weekend.
In doubles, USC's Parker Fry and Emma Charneyh teamed up to take down Iowa's duo of Pokorna/Kranholdt 6-1. The doubles point was won on center court as the No. 7 ranked pair of Lily Fairclough and Grace Piper beat the No. 75 ranked Hawkeye pair of Dejnozkova/Vishwase 6-2. USC's Maia Sung and Sloane Morra led their doubles match 4-3 when play was suspended.
Moving into singles play, USC claimed all six first sets and kept the momentum going through second sets. No. 66 ranked Piper recorded USC's first singles win of the day, downing No. 113 ranked Tereza Dejnozkova 6-1, 7-5. No. 103 ranked Immi Haddad put another point on the board for the Trojans, beating Marisa Schmidt 6-3, 6-3. The match was won on court four as Lily Fairclough delivered a 6-3, 6-3 clincher over Barbora Pokorna. Remaining matches went unfinished with USC leading on all courts.
USC now returns to Los Angeles for three matches this week, including a Crosstown Showdown against No. 22 UCLA on Wednesday at 1p.m. PT. On Friday the Trojans will host Rutgers at 3 p.m., and Saturday the Trojans will welcome Maryland for an 11 a.m. match (Senior Day).
