Dillon Klein Headlines USC's Men's Volleyball All-MPSF Award Winners
April 22, 2025 | Men's Volleyball
Freshmen Parker Tomkinson and Johnny Dykstra were each selected to the All-MPSF second team
LOS ANGELES – USC men's volleyball junior OH Dillon Klein (Pacific Palisades/Loyola HS) was chosen to the MPSF all-conference first team to highlight a quintet of Trojans selected for league postseason honors on Tuesday, April 22.
Â
Freshman LIB Johnny Dykstra (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira Costa HS) and freshman MB Parker Tomkinson (Carlsbad, Calif./Carlsbad HS) were each named to the All-MPSF second team; and sophomore S Caleb Blanchette (Brentwood, Tenn./Ravenwood HS) earned honorable mention status. Dykstra, Tomkinson and freshman OH Sterling Foley (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS) were all voted to the MPSF all-freshman team.
Â
Klein was chosen to the second team in 2023 and 2024 and is one of four three-time All-MPSF players, joined by UCLA's Cooper Robinson and Andrew Rowan on the first team and BYU's Miks Ramanis on the second team.
Â
USC's three all-conference selections are the most since four Trojans were named to the teams in 2022: Simon Gallas (first team) and Lucas Frassrand, Chris Hall, and Sam Kobrine (second team). It is the first time that three Trojans have been chosen to the all-freshman team. USC previously had two all-freshman honorees in 2024 (Blanchette and Wesley Smith), 2018 (Sam Lewis and Cole Paxson), 2014 (Andy Benesh and Lucas Yoder), and 2012 (Micah Christenson and Robert Feathers).
Â
Klein ranks second in the MPSF for kills (3.83 kps), third in attacks (7.86 aps) and hitting percentage (.362), and is fourth in points (4.38 pps). He has reached double-digit kills 18 times (59 in his career), double-digit points 19 times, and has produced a pair of double-doubles this season. Klein was chosen for the AVCA's National Player of the Week award twice and earned Molten/MPSF Player of the Week awards three times (two offensive, one defensive) this season. He also reached the 1,000-kill mark in his career this week.
Â
Tomkinson leads the MPSF in blocks (1.10 bps, 10th nationally) and in hitting percentage (.456). He has produced 12 matches in double-digit points and five in double-digit kills this season. Tomkinson won both the offensive and defensive player of the week awards from the MPSF. Dykstra is the MPSF leader in digs (2.19 dps, 19th nationally) and was named the MPSF Defensive Player of the Week on March 17. He has produced eight matches in double-digit digs.
Â
Blanchette is the MPSF leader in assists (10.70 aps, third nationally) and was chosen for the Molten/MPSF Defensive Player of the Week honors on March 31. He has produced a pair of double-doubles this season and crossed the 1,500-career assist plateau with the 2,000-assist mark within range. Foley was named the Molten/MPSF Defensive Player of the Week yesterday (April 21) and has been steady for the Trojans with 11 matches in double-digit kills (17 in double-digit points).Â
Â
The fifth-ranked Trojans (20-6, 8-4 MPSF) finished second in the MPSF's regular-season standings and earned the second seed in the upcoming championship tournament. By virtue of its seed, USC advances directly into the semifinal and will play an opponent still to be determined on Friday (April 25) at 8 p.m. PT. The match will be shown live on Big Ten Plus (B1G+). Should the Trojans advance, they would play in the MPSF championship match on Saturday (April 26) at 7:30 p.m. on Big Ten Network.
