USC’s Annabel Aron, Alex DeLisle, Gerli Endrekson and Chiara Meakin have earned All-Big Ten recognition.
LOS ANGELES – In USC's first season in the Big Ten Conference, four rowers have earned distinctive honors for their performances. Senior Annabel Aron was named to the All-Big Ten First Team, and senior Alex DeLisle landed a spot on the All-Big Ten Second Team. Gerli Endrekson was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team, while senior Chiara Meakin received the Big Ten Sportsmanship Award.
This season, Aron competed in nine races with USC's 1V8+ boat. Sitting in the sixth seat, she helped USC secure a victory over crosstown rival UCLA and finish first in the petite final at the Big Ten Championships. Throughout her time as a Trojan, Aron has competed in over 50 regattas for USC and has been to the NCAAs twice. Earlier this season, Aron was named to the For Stars Network Spring Athlete Watch List.
Also on the 1V8+ crew was DeLisle, who hit the water eight times this season, primarily in the bow seat. DeLisle and the Trojans 1V8+ finished second at the Oregon State Invitational in addition to their roles in beating the Bruins and winning the Big Ten petite final. DeLisle has donned Cardinal and Gold for 29 races across her three years of rowing for the Trojans.
In her first season as a Trojan, Gerli Endrekson was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman Team after making an immediate impact in USC's 1V8+ lineup. She competed in 10 races this season, demonstrating her versatility by rowing in both the fourth and seventh seats and contributing to the boat's key finishes. Endrekson also was named to the For Stars Network Spring Athlete Watch List earlier this season.
USC's Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recipient, senior Chiara Meakin was a key member of USC's 2V8+ boat. Her standout performances include a victory over the Bruins at the USC-UCLA dual, a first-place finish in the second rounds of the Big Ten Invitational and a crucial comeback push that narrowly qualified the Trojans for the Big Ten grand final last weekend. The Big Ten Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate distinguished sportsmanship, ethical behavior, academic standing and good citizenship outside of the sports-competition setting.
