USC’s Kennedy Smith Selected For USA Basketball’s AmeriCup Team

Trojan rising sophomore will compete at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AmeriCup in Chile.
Coming off a standout first season as a Trojan, USC guard Kennedy Smith is cued up for international action this summer as a member of USA Basketball's 2025 AmeriCup Team. Smith secured her spot with Team USA after a three-day trial in Colorado Springs, Colo. She and her USA teammates will do battle at the upcoming 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup in Santiago, Chile, from June 28-July 6.
Honored with a place on the Big Ten All-Freshman Team last season, Smith was instrumental in driving the Trojans to the Big Ten regular-season title and on to the NCAA Elite Eigh, where she earned a spot on the NCAA Spokane Region 4 All-Tournament Team. In all, Smith averaged 9.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game along with a team-best 2.2 steals per game. She also knocked down 37 threes for the Trojans in her freshman season.
It won't be Smith's first time representing her country, though. She helped the U.S. U18 National Team win gold at the 2024 FIBA U18 AmeriCup and also participated at the Nike Hoop Summit.
The 2025 USA Women's AmeriCup Team will open Group B with host nation Chile, followed by Colombia, Puerto Rico and Mexico. The full schedule is available here. The winner of the 2025 FIBA Women's AmeriCup will earn a berth to the 2026 FIBA Women's World Cup, set to be held in Berlin next summer.
