LOS ANGELES – The No. 4 USC women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against Portland on Thursday night at Rawlinson Stadium, despite holding the majority of the possession and outshooting the Pilots on the night.
USC remains unbeaten and moves to 3-0-1 on the year, while Portland moves to 1-1-2 on the season.
The Trojans outshot Portland 18-7, but were unable to break through even with three shots on target.
Bella Grust came up with a pair of big saves to secure USC's third clean sheet of the season. Grust thwarted two breakaway chances for Portland in the second half, coming out to meet the attacker and deflect the ball away both times. Her second save came in the 81st minute.
Faith George had a shot deflected up and over the bar in the 10th minute for USC and Eleanor Morrissey would put one off the post later in the first half. Jaiden Anderson put an attempt on frame in the second half that the Pilot keeper made a diving save on, and George also had a late attempt that went wide.
