USC Women’s Tennis Opens Fall Play at the Battle in the Bay Classic

Four Trojans to compete at the four-day invitational.
LOS ANGELES – The USC women's tennis team will take to the court for the first time this fall as four players head north to take part in the Battle in the Bay Classic this weekend. The tournament runs Thursday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 14 at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco.
Draws for the event can be found here. Live scoring and video will not be available at the Battle in the Bay Classic.
Athletes from 13 different Division I tennis programs across the country will compete at the tournament, including five schools from USC's previous conference.
The Women of Troy are looking to start the fall season off strong, coming off a monumental first year in the Big Ten conference. USC went 17-8 overall during the 2025 season and finished 9-4 in Big Ten play. The Trojans reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament and the quarterfinals of the conference tournament in 2025. USC's Grace Piper and Lily Fairclough qualified for the inaugural 2024 Fall NCAA Individual Championships, with Piper reaching the singles round of 32 and the pair of Piper/Fairclough reaching the doubles round of 16.
This season, the Women of Troy boast a team flush with veteran and newcomer talent. USC will rely on four returners to get the season going a senior Emma Charney, juniors Lily Fairclough and Immi Haddad and sophomore Jana Hossam will see action this weekend.
Charney led the Trojans at the 2024 Battle in the Bay, reaching the singles semifinals.
