USC Cross Country Takes Home Career-Best Performances at UC Riverside Invitational

All Trojans put up personal-best times in the first 6k race of the season
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The USC cross country team came away with personal records across the board at the UC Riverside Invitational Saturday morning.
Jacqueline Duarte and Haley Spoden both achieved personal bests in the 6k with all other runners taking on the distance for the first time. The team placed 23rd overall in the first 6k race of the season.
For the second meet in a row, Holli Prest was first to come into the finish for the Trojans with a time of 21:44.5. She was followed closely behind by Jacqueline Duarte who ran a 44-second personal best at 21:51.3. Last year, she ran the same course in 22:35.5.
Haley Spoden was next to finish for the Trojans with a time of 22:19.9, an 11-second improvement from her previous 6k PR on the same course. Bella Duarte came in shortly thereafter at 22:49.1 in her first collegiate 6k race.
In her Trojan debut, Paige Unger ran the 6k in 23:50.6 to bring home the strong showing for the Women of Troy.
USC Cross Country returns to the race course in one week with the Pomona-Pitzer Invite on Oct. 4. The women's 6k is set for 8:30 a.m. with live results available here.
