The Trojans fall to 2-9-6 overall and 1-6-4 in Big Ten Conference play. Iowa improves to 9-4-5 overall and 4-3-4 in conference play. USC outshot the Hawkeyes 15-13, but were unable to convert more of their six shots on goal.

Within 10 minutes, the Hawkeyes broke the deadlock. Off a turnover in the USC defensive third, a quick through ball by Abby Skiff found Reilly Heman in behind and one-on-one with Biehl. The Iowa forward slotted the attempt in the bottom corner, giving Iowa a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute of play. Just after halftime, Iowa stuck again. Hawkeyes midfielder Sophia Bush ran onto the end of a through ball before sliding her effort past Biehl, doubling the lead in the 51st minute of play. Heman recorded an assist on the goal-scoring sequence.

USC cut the Iowa lead in half after USC forward Peyton Nakagawara forced a turnover just outside the Iowa penalty area and made the Hawkeyes immediately pay with a clinical, far-post finish. Nakagawara's goal came in the 71st minute of play. It's her second goal of the season.

Iowa sealed the win in the 81st minute when Hawkeyes midfielder Elle Wildman finished off a pass by Heman, her second assist of the game.
