Trojan Swimmers Claim Nine Events During First Day of USC Invitational

USC holds the advantage heading into the second day of competition against TCU.
LOS ANGELES - USC swimming kicked off the 2026-27 season in dominant fashion, claiming nine events against TCU during the first day of competition at the USC Invitational. The two-day three-session Uytengsu Aquatics Center event continues tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT.
The No. 13 ranked Women of Troy boast a 69-24 lead heading into the second day of competition, while No. 25 Troy holds a 71.5-21.5 advantage over TCU.
USC opened the afternoon with wins in both medley relays. The Women of Troy's A relay consisting of Minna Abraham, Bella Brito, Sage Miller and Ludovica Di Maria clocked a 3:26.50 to claim first. The Trojans' C & B relays finished second and third, respectively,
Troy also claimed the early relay, with Michal Chmielewski, Junhao Chan, Krzysztof Chmielewski and Oliver Sogaard-Andersen blasting a 3:09.79 to take the event.
Krzysztof would return just two events later to claim the 500y freestyle and lead a 1-2-3 Trojan sweep. Chmielewskiposted a 4:21.75 to take first, followed by Emil Schmidt (4:23.72) and Andrew Maksymowski (4:24.15).
Senior Lindsay Barnes led the Trojans with a strong performance in the 100y backstroke, claiming the event in 53.27. Freshman Di Maria touched just after Barnes, clocking a 53.79 for second.
Polish Olympian Michal Chmielewski led a 1-2 finish in the 100y back on the men's side, touching first in 46.86. Sophomore Emiliano Zamudio was second, clocking a 48.53.
USC's medley depth was on full display Thursday afternoon as the Trojans swept both the men's and women's 200y IM, going 1-2-3-4 in both races. Filip Mujan blasted a 1:48.55 to win it for Troy, while Minna Abraham won the event on the women's side with a time of 1:58.08.
Freshman Di Maria (22.71) and junior Sogaard-Andersen (20.31) wrapped up the first afternoon of competition with a pair of wins in the 50y freestyle.
USC is back in action tomorrow at 9 a.m. PT at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center for the first of two Friday sessions.
