USC Lacrosse Falls to No. 2 Stanford in Road Bout

The Trojans got a pair of goals from Alex May and two from Hollis Mulry
STANFORD, Calif. – The USC lacrosse team (3-2) dropped an 18-4 decision to No. 2 Stanford (5-0) at Laird Q. Cagan Stadium on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 22.

- Redshirt Jr. midfielder Hollis Mulry scored two goals and picked up three ground balls.
- So. midfielder Alex May scored two goals and picked up a ground ball.
- Redshirt Jr. midfielder Hannah Barron had two ground balls, two draw controls, and a caused turnover.
- So. defender Coco Hauck picked up two ground balls and caused a turnover.
- So. goalie Ellie Thomas went wire-to-wire between the pipes and produced four saves.
- For the Cardinal, Ava Arceri led all scorers with four goals. Aliya Polisky scored three goals and finished with nine points with six assists. Rylee Bouvier scored two goals, caused four turnovers, and picked up a pair of ground balls. Lindsey Devir scored three goals. Annabel Frist and Jordyn Case shared game-high honors with five draw controls each.
- Stanford scored three goals in the first quarter but more importantly held the Trojans without a shot and capitalized on nine USC turnovers. May scored the first goal of the second quarter and the teams went back and forth without scoring for nine minutes until Devir scored to put the Cardinal in front by three again, 4-1, at 3:56. Arceri scored one more with 48 seconds to halftime but May answered off a dish from Emma Bunting with just two seconds to the break. Stanford went into the locker room with a 5-2 lead at halftime.
- The Cardinal outshot USC, 12-1, in the third quarter and played a steady game to roll through a 9-0 run and took a 14-2 lead with just 3:35 left in the frame. Stanford won the center circle by a 9-2 count in the third and forced the Trojans to commit five turnovers. Mulry's goal with 1:17 to play stemmed the tide but the Cardinal came out and scored four more in the fourth quarter to balloon the lead to 18-3 before Mulry scored again with 42 seconds to play.
- USC stays on the road and travels to the Copper State to take on Arizona State (1-2) at Sun Devil Lacrosse Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. The Trojans and the Devils meet on Saturday (Feb. 28) for a noon PT first draw to be shown on ESPN+.
- USC fell to 9-13 all-time against Stanford and has lost each of the last three meetings with the Cardinal.
- The Trojans moved to 1-1 in road games this season.
- USC goes to 21-8 in Northern California cities including a 4-8 mark in Stanford.
- The 14-goal margin was the largest for either team in the Trojans' all-time series with the Cardinal. It was previously 12 goals in a loss last spring (Feb. 8, 2025). It is also the largest goal margin in a loss in program history, previously 13 goals against Northwestern in USC's inaugural game (Feb. 9, 2013). USC has lost by double digits just eight times.
