The news comes on the heels of Davidson being named the Big Ten Freshman of the Week yesterday.
LOS ANGELES — USC freshman guard Jazzy Davidson has been named the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) National Freshman of the Week for the fourth time this season and for the second consecutive week, the organization announced Tuesday, Feb. 24. Davidson's four USBWA Freshman of the Week honors is the most of any newcomer nationally.
With her fourth USBWA Freshman of the Week recognition and second in as many weeks, Davidson continues to elevate her remarkable debut season and solidify her standing among the nation's elite first-year players.
Davidson earns the national honor after another historic two-game stretch for the Trojans, highlighted by a 24-point performance against Wisconsin and a career-best 32-point outing against No. 10 Ohio State.
Against Wisconsin, Davidson led USC with 24 points while adding five rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocks. She accounted for 37 total points in the win, including 13 generated off her assists, continuing to impact every facet of the game.
She followed with a career-high 32 points against No. 10 Ohio State, shooting 6-for-9 from beyond the arc and 4-for-6 from the free-throw line. Davidson knocked down a career-best six three-pointers and matched her career high with 11 made field goals, while also contributing six rebounds, four assists, three steals and one block. In total, she accounted for 42 of USC's 88 points, including 10 more created through assists.
Her 32-point performance marked the most points by a Trojan this season and the highest scoring output by a Big Ten freshman this year. She became the first USC freshman to score 30+ points in a game since JuJu Watkins on March 8, 2024 vs. UCLA and the first Trojan overall to reach the 30-point mark since Kiki Iriafen on March 24, 2025 vs. Mississippi State.
Davidson has now scored in double figures in 24 consecutive games, posted 20 or more points in five straight contests, and recorded 12 20-point performances this season.
On the year, Davidson is the only Division I player leading her team in points (18.0), rebounds (6.2), assists (4.4), steals (2.0) and blocks (2.2), a testament to her unique all-around dominance as a freshman.
