No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball Hosts Battle For LA At Merle Norman Stadium

The Women of Troy will face CSUN, Pepperdine, Cal Poly and Concordia Irvine over the weekend.

LOS ANGELES – No. 4 USC Beach Volleyball (4-2) will play its first weekend at home inside Merle Norman Stadium this weekend, Feb. 27 and 28, as they host the Battle of Los Angeles with UCLA and Loyola Marymount. The Women of Troy will face CSUN and Pepperdine on Friday, followed by No. 3 Cal Poly and Concordia Irvine on Saturday. This is the first time USC is playing these four teams this season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Women of Troy were in the Aloha State as they competed in the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic hosted by the University of Hawai'i. By the end of the weekend, USC was 4-2, while the No. 2 pair of Zoey Henson and Sarah Wood were named the Most Outstanding Pair. The Cardinal and Gold grabbed wins against No. 2 Stanford, No. 7 Loyola Marymount, No. 9 California and No. 16 Hawai'i while dropping matches to No. 1 UCLA and No. 6 Texas. The pair of Henson and Wood, as well as the Trojans' No. 5 pair in Kyra Zaengle and Calinda Kok were undefeated on the weekend.

CARDIAC KIDS
In three of Calinda Kok and Kyra Zaengle's five matches this weekend in Hawai'i, they rallied back from behind to come back and get the win. This tenacity allowed the duo to go 5-0 on the weekend. Along the way, they came back from behind against No. 2 Stanford, No. 6 Texas and No. 16 Hawai'i.

ALL THEY DO IS WIN
Sarah Wood and Zory Henson were paired together this summer, winning the FIVB World Championship together, and now they have their sights on an NCAA Championship. Their partnership at USC has started off strong, going 6-0 to start the season while earning MPSF Pair of the Week honors and being named as the Outrigger Duke Kahanamoku Beach Classic's Most Outstanding Pair.

HOME SWEET HOME
Since the opening of Merle Norman Stadium, USC has found a ton of success playing at home. The Women of Troy have an overall record of 95-11 when playing on their home court.
