No. 12 USC Baseball Falls 6-4 at Maryland

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 12 USC baseball team dropped a 6-4 decision on the road at Maryland on Saturday afternoon to even the three-game series and set up a rubber match on Sunday.
USC falls to 25-3 overall on the season and 9-2 in Big Ten play, while Maryland improves to 12-14, 2-6.
The Trojans jumped in front early getting a run-scoring double from Dean Carpentier in the top of the first inning. Augie Lopez then made it a 2-0 Trojan lead with a solo homer in the fourth.
Maryland cut the lead in half with a run in the bottom of the fourth and then pulled in front, 3-2, with a two-run homer in the fifth.
USC would tie it on an Adrian Lopez double in the top of the seventh, but Maryland came back with a pair of homers in the bottom half of the inning to make it a 6-3 game. Another Lopez double scored one run in the ninth for the Trojans, but that was it for the day.

USC and Maryland wrap things up on Sunday 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT on B1G+. The Trojans then return to Southern California for a midweek matchup with UC Santa Barbara on Tuesday before heading to No. 1 UCLA next weekend.
