- USC outshot Ohio State, 26-19, and got to more ground balls by a 22-15 count. The Buckeyes had the edge in the center circle by a 14-10 margin, but the Trojans had fewer turnovers (22-19) and were better on the clear than OSU.
- A pair of seniors got the Trojans out to an early 2-0 start as Casey Roberts took a feed from Lillie Bea Cope (13:03) for the game's first goal and then Hannah Barronwent to goal unassisted to make it 2-0 (11:39). The Buckeyes responded to score the next four and held a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.
- Hargraves scored the first goal of the second quarter to make it a 5-0 Buckeye run but Bunting and Sydney Stewart scored back-to-back goals for the Trojans to trim the lead to one at 5-4. Ohio State had one more response and moved ahead by three goals, 7-4, heading into halftime.
- USC came out and methodically tied the score at seven-all on goals by Maggie Ramsay (free position), Fravert, and Robinson on a feed from Bunting. Ohio State broke the tie with a goal from Hargraves to take an 8-7 lead into the final frame. The Trojans outshot the Buckeyes, 10-2, in the third and forced OSU into seven turnovers.
- Zoe Coleman scored the first goal of the fourth quarter at 10:05 to make it a 9-7 lead for the Buckeyes, but it appeared Stone put the game out of reach when she scored from free position with just 3:42 left in the game to make it 10-7 Ohio State. The Trojans won the next three draws and scored three goals in 124 seconds to force overtime. The first came from Regan at 2:18. Then Robinson took a pass from Alex May to trim the lead to one goal with 52 seconds left in regulation. Bunting then found Fravert for a goal with just 14 seconds on the clock to tie the score at 10-all. Ohio State won the next draw but couldn't get a shot before regulation time ran out.
- The teams went back and forth in the first overtime period and only the Trojans were able to get a shot off. Despite winning the draw, the Buckeyes surrendered their shot opportunity when Gangemi intercepted a pass. Both teams traded shot-clock violations before Barron's shot went high at the end of the period.Â
- In the second overtime period, Regan won the draw, but a costly USC turnover put the Buckeyes on offense once more. This time, Stone made good on Ohio State's only shot in extra time to deliver the golden goal and an OSU win.Â
