No. 17 USC Baseball Falls 6-5 in 14 Innings at No. 16 Oregon

EUGENE, Ore. –The No. 17 USC baseball team suffered a 6-5 defeat on the road at No. 16 Oregon as the Ducks drove in the game-winning run on a bunt in the 14th inning on Saturday afternoon.
The Trojans came back to tie it in the seventh inning after being down early, but couldn't come up with another later run to complete the comeback. USC falls to 42-14 overall with the loss and 20-10 in Big Ten play. Oregon moves to 38-15, 20-10 with the win.
Kevin Takeuchi erased a 5-3 deficit in the top of the seventh for USC, hitting the third of three big homers for the Trojans on the day. After USC fell behind 4-0 after the first two innings, Richard Tejeda hit a solo-shot in the third and Adrian Lopez hit a two-run homer in the sixth.
Andrew Johnson, Chase Herrell and Adam Troy each had multiple scoreless relief innings in the game, and Sax Matson tossed 3.2 stellar frames out of the pen before Oregon finally got the winning run in the 14th.
It was the third one-run game between the Trojans and Ducks in the series and the second game that went to extra innings. USC won the opener 2-1 in 11 innings on Thursday night.
