USC Men’s Golf Selected to Compete in the Bermuda Run Regional

The Trojans will be the 5-seed in the 14-team region.
LOS ANGELES — Making back-to-back NCAA Regionals appearances, the USC Men's Golf team will be the 5-seed in the Bermuda Run Regional, located at the Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, N.C. from May 18-20.
The Trojans will compete against No. 3 Virginia, No. 10 Ole Miss, No. 15 Pepperdine, host team Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Little Rock, NC State, Kentucky, Houston, Richmond, Navy and Presbyterian over the course of 54 holes. The top five teams and the top individual on a non-qualifying team will move on to the NCAA Championship, held once again at the Omni La Costa in Carlsbad, Calif. from May 28-June 3.
"We were prepared for wherever we were sent," Head Coach Mark Hankins said. "We're excited to be back in the NCAAs again and competing against a great field."
USC is looking to improve upon last year's sixth-place finish at regionals — one spot away from qualifying for NCAAs. The Trojans are also aiming for their first NCAA Championship berth since 2019.
This year has been one of the most historic and successful seasons since 2018. The team's four titles are not only the program's most since 2018, but also are tied for the third-most single-season titles in program history. All told, the Trojans have either set or tied program records for the lowest individual tournament score (17-under 199, by Antonio Safa at the Whirlwind Invitational), low round (62, by Jack Buchanan at the Western Intercollegaite) and the best start to a season in program history by winning two of the team's first three events.
Individually, the Trojans have gotten more production out of a pair of sophomores who were on last year's squad that fell just short of qualifying for the final site. Sophomore Jaden Dumdumaya became USC's first Big Ten Player of the Year and Les Bolstad Award Winner — an award given to the Big Ten player with the lowest stroke average — while sophomore Jack Buchanan made First Team All-Big Ten honors after winning the Western Intercollegiate and stringing together three top-three finishes heading into the postseason.
"We work to stay ready, and this won't be any different," Hankins said. "Preparation will be appropriate for the host golf course, and we'll need to adapt and use our team depth to advance."
Monday's first round of NCAA Regionals is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m. ET/4:30 a.m. PT. All pertinent updates can be found on the men's golf team's schedule page on usctrojans.com.
