The Trojans end the season with 15 first team all-Americans
EUGENE, Ore. — The USC women's track and field finished the season in the top five at NCAA Championships at Hayward Field on Saturday evening. The final day was highlighted by a win and new school record in the 4x100m relay and a national runner-up finish and school record by Madison Whyte in the 400m.
"This team has tenacity and never gave up," said Quincy Watts, Director of USC Track and Field. "We got hit with the injury bug this year, which is different from previous years, but the way this team bounced back brought me great joy with how we competed here at nationals."
The women's 4x100m relay team of Dajaz DeFrand, Mia Brahe-Pedersen, Madison Whyte and Brianna Selby brought home the national title for the second year in a row, lowering their school record time from semifinals. Their time of 41.58 came within .03 seconds of the collegiate record set by Texas in 2023.
In the 400m, Madison Whyte dominated, running the No. 3 time in NCAA history and coming in second place behind new collegiate record-holder Dejanea Oakley from Georgia. Her time of 48.97 shattered her previous school record of 49.64 set earlier this season.
In the 100m, Brianna Selby finished as a first team all-American in eighth place at 11.14 seconds. In the 200m, Dajaz DeFrand and Christine Mallard closed out their collegiate careers also picking up all-American status. DeFrand earned first team honors in 22.44, finishing in sixth. Mallard earned second team all-American with a time of 22.58.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Christine Mallard, Joelle Trepagnier, Takiya Cenci and Madison Whyte closed out the day with the No. 6 time in school history at 3:26.80 to place seventh and earn the final two points to place fifth as a team overall.
The Trojans finish the 2026 outdoor season with a NCAA relay title, three national runner-ups, school records in five events and 15 first team all-Americans.
