LOS ANGELES — The USC women's soccer team dropped its Big Ten opener at home on Thursday night, falling 5-0 to No. 5 Michigan State.

USC falls to 1-4-2 overall and 0-1-0 in Big Ten play. Michigan State improves to 5-0-2, 1-0-0.

The Spartans struck first in the sixth minute and then added two more later in the half to take a 3-0 lead at the break. A goal in the 66th minute would push the lead to 4-0 and another in the 87th minute capped it.

The Trojans put up four shots in the second half, including one off the post by Eleanor Morrissey, but USC was never able to mount a comeback.
