USC Cross Country Set to Open Season at Pepperdine Waves Invite

The Trojans add five newcomers to their roster for the opening meet.
MALIBU, Calif. — The USC cross country team will open the 2026 season on Friday up the coast at the Pepperdine Waves Invite. The women's 4k is set for 9:45 a.m. on the Alumni Park course.
The Trojans welcome five freshmen to the course Friday with Abigail Feldman, Emilia Gonzalez, Ally Sparno, Ivanka Malysheva and Monserrat Santillan Silva all expected to make their collegiate debuts.
Returning to the roster for the Women of Troy this year are Paige Unger, Holli Prest and Isabella Duarte. Prest was recently named to the Big Ten Runners to Watch list for the season.
The team will kick off its first season under Coach Sean Brosnan as well. Brosnan is best known for his time at Newbury Park High School, coaching Men's and Women's Cross Country and Track & Field to historic finishes at the state and national level from 2016 to 2022. His men's team went undefeated at league championships six years in a row and won a state championship title three times.
