2014: Willson will serve as a backup walk-on senior tight end in 2014.
2013:Willson, who transferred to USC in the fall of 2013 after playing football and baseball at Wake Forest, saw action in 4 games (Arizona, Utah, Oregon State, California) as a junior walk-on reserve tight end. He even started at Oregon State. Overall in 2013, he had 1 catch for 5 yards (5.0 avg) and 1 kickoff return for 7 yards (7.0 avg), both of which came against Utah.
WAKE FOREST: He participated in 2013 spring football practice at Wake Forest as a quarterback before transferring to USC.
He also played baseball at Wake Forest. As a 2012 sophomore righthanded pitcher, he went 3-1 with a 5.40 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 28.1 innings in 12 appearances (4 starts), but a shoulder injury that required surgery ended his baseball career.
As a freshman in 2011, he played in 6 early-season games (1 start) and had an 0-1 record with a 5.40 ERA, 2 saves and 8 strikeouts in 5 innings in 2011 before being sidelined by a back injury.
HIGH SCHOOL: He played football and baseball at St. Paul High in Santa Fe Springs (Calif.). He was the football team captain as a 2009 senior and was named a 3-time (2007-09) All-League Scholar Athlete. In baseball at St. Paul, he made All-Area and All-League as a junior in 2009, when he hit .325 with 6 home runs and 23 RBIs. He played in the 2009 MLB Southwest All-Star Game and Area Code Games. He also made All-League Scholar Athlete in 2008 and 2009.
PERSONAL: He is a religion major at USC. His father, Jim, was a 4-year letterman in football at Denison, while his mother, Sue, played softball, tennis and basketball at Eckerd College.
