2025: Johnson, who transferred to USC in the spring of 2025 from Valparaiso, looks to compete for playing time at punter as a redshirt senior in 2025.
VALAPARAISO: Johnson had a spectacular redshirt junior season in 2024. He was named a 2024 Stats Perform Second Team All-American, becoming the program's first All-American since 2003 and just one of three All-Americans from the program since 1985. He was named the Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Year and received All-PFL First Team honors. Johnson was selected as the Phil Steele Pioneer Football League Special Teams Player of the Year and earned placement on the Phil Steele All-PFL First Team. He was also an FCS National Punter of the Year Semifinalist. Additionally, he was named the PFL Special Teams Player of the Week four times throughout the season.
Johnson finished with a season punting average of 47.13, shattering the previous program and PFL record of 43.68 that had stood for 14 years. Johnson had 24 punts of 50 yards or more and pinned the opposition inside the 20 on 19 occasions. He ranked third nationally in FCS in punting average and second among those with at least 50 attempts.
JACKSON STATE: Johnson was a member of the 2022 SWAC Championship at Jackson State as a redshirt sophomore. He appeared in 4 games and had 15 punts totaling 505 yards. He averaged 33.7 yards per punt during the 2022 campaign with a long of 50. Four punts were fair caught and 4 were downed inside the 20.
ALABAMA: Johnson did not see action as a sophomore in 2021. Alabama won the 2021 SEC Championship.
As a freshman in 2020, Johnson saw action 4 games. Alabama won the 2020 SEC Championship. He appeared in 4 games and had 10 punts totaling 354 yards. He averaged 35.4 yards per punt with a long of 45. Five punts were fair caught and 4 were downed inside the 20. He recorded 1 touchback.
HIGH SCHOOL: Johnson was a four-year varsity letterwinner at Oak Mountain (Ala.) HS. A multisport athlete, he also played basketball.
PERSONAL: He earned his bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from Valparaiso in the spring of 2024. He is now pursuing a master’s degree in Communication Management at USC.
