Bio
THIS YEAR: Sophomore Alyssa Hope is in her second season as a jumper on the USC track and field team.
2024: Hope competed in seven outdoor meets during the season. She began by winning the long jump with a wind-aided jump of 20-7.25/6.28m (+3.8w) at the Beach Opener on March 2. She then won the high jump with a clearance of 5-5.00 (1.65m) and took second in the long jump with a leap of 19-4.75/5.91m (+0.0) at the Trojan Invitational on March 23. She set her outdoor long jump PR of 20-9.75/6.34m (+0.0) to take fifth at the Florida Relays on March 29…it was the longest jump by a Trojan during the outdoor season. She was second in the long jump at the Mt. SAC Relays on April 19 (20-3.75) and third at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet (20-1.75) on April 28. She placed second in the long jump with a jump of 20-6.50/6.26m (-1.7) at the Pac-12 Championships on May 10. She advanced to the NCAA West Regional in the long jump. Hope competed in four indoor meets. She set her indoor long jump personal best of 19-11.50 (6.08m) in placing fifth at the Ted Nelson Invitational on Jan. 20.
HIGH SCHOOL: Hope is a 2023 graduate of Martin Luther King High in Riverside, Calif. She has personal bests of 41-3 in the triple jump and 20-4.25 in the long jump. She placed third in the triple jump with a jump of 40-3.25 and the long jump with a leap of 20-1.25 at the 2023 CIF State Championships…She had her long jump PR of 20-4.25 (6.20m) in the prelims, which ranked eighth among all high schoolers in 2023. As a junior, she was voted the Inland Empire Girls Track Athlete of the Year as she won the CIF state title in the triple jump (40-2.75) and placed second in the long jump (20-4). She became just the second CIF athlete to jump over 40 feet in the triple and jump and 20 in the long jump, joining Olympian Tara Davis.
PERSONAL: Alyssa was born on November 10, 2005…Her mother’s name is Ashley Hope…She likes to read in her spare time…Her favorite musical artist is Beyonce….Says her favorite food is pizza…Someday would like to travel to Germany…Involved with Link Crew, a freshman welcome program for high school…Lists Tara Davis as her sports hero as she is not afraid to be herself and you can tell she enjoys what she is doing…After school would like to compete in the Olympics and own her own ranch with a horse and everything…She is a Human Biology major at USC.
