Bio
THIS YEAR: Sophomore Jada Gatlin is in her second season as a jumper on the USC track and field team.
2024: Gatlin competed in five outdoor meets during her first season as a Trojan. She had her wind-legal triple jump season best of 40-0.00/12.19m (+0.2) to place second at the Oxy Invitational on May 4. She placed fourth in the triple jump at the USC-UCLA Dual Meet on April 28 with a wind-aided jump of 40-0.75/12.21m (+2.5w). She competed in one indoor meet, placing 10th in the triple jump with a mark of 37-8.00 (11.48m) at the Spokane Sports Showcase on Jan. 12.
HIGH SCHOOL: Gatlin is a 2023 graduate of Mission Viejo High in Mission Viejo, Calif. She has personal bests of 40-9 in the triple jump and 18-7.75 in the long jump. She placed third in the triple jump with a leap of 40-8 and second in the long jump with a mark of 18-6.25 at the 2023 CIF Division 3 State Championships meet…She also ran on the winning 4x100m relay team. 2023 Orange County Girl’s Track and Field Athlete of the Year. She won the Student-Athlete Award for three years in a row.
PERSONAL: Jada was born on May 23, 2005 in Orange, Calif.…Her parents are Raquel Loquet and Rodney Gatlin, and she has two siblings, Jasmine and Desiree Gatlin...Her grandfather Joseph Gatlin attended USC…Her hobbies include baking, reading and math…She volunteered at a local library while growing up…Her favorite movie is Tangled…Lists Allyson Felix as her sports hero because she is so resilient and extremely decorated in many events….Her favorite foods are chocolate cake and strawberries…Someday would like to travel to Hawai’i and Europe…After school she would like to compete professionally and/or become a physical therapist…She is a Human Biology major at USC.
