THIS SEASON: Jessica Failla enters her sophomore season at USC.
2015-16 SEASON: Failla finished her freshman season ranked No. 84 in the nation in doubles with partner Gabby Smith…Won the singles championship at the USTA Girls 18s Winter National Championships winning the gold ball… Claimed the doubles championship at the Rebel Invitational with partner Gabby Smith…Went 23-13 in overall in singles, going 12-6 in dual matches…Played primarily in the No. 5 position (8-2)…Also competed at the No. 4 spot (4-4)…Had the clinching win in five dual matches (Oklahoma State, Utah, Arizona State, UCLA, UNLV), the most on the team…In doubles, went 20-5 overall with a 12-3 mark in dual matches…Was 9-0 both overall and in dual matches with Rianna Valdes…Also went 6-3 overall and 3-3 in dual matches with Zoë Katz and 5-2 overall with Gabby Smith…In the fall, competed in the Rivera/ITA All-American Championships, ITA Southwest Regional, Rebel Invitational and Freeman Memorial.
HIGH SCHOOL: Failla won the CIF singles championship as a junior at Ramona High... A two-time San Diego Player of the Year... Won the 16s Summer National title at level 2... Won the 18s doubles sectionals... Placed sixth at the 16s Hardcourt Super Nationals... Ranked No. 27 nationally in 18s and was No. 4 in Southern California 18s... Named the 2013 San Diego Sportsmanship Player of the Year...Selected to compete on teams at the Maze Cup, Intersectionals and Zonals... An honor student.
PERSONAL: Jessica Christine Failla is the daughter of Greg and Katrina... Has two brothers, Josh and Joel, and one sister, Julia... Hopes to travel to India and Africa... Would like to serve as a missionary overseas and help underprivileged children... Was a leader in Fellowship of Christian Athletes during high school and is currently active in Athletes in Action at USC... Majoring in communications.
